Editor's review
This software tool will help convert canned pages creating editable Open Office files.
OCR technology converts scanned images of typed material into actual ASCII text. So that it is understood by a computer and could be easily edited in word processing applications like the MS Word. mini TIF to Word OCR Converter is able to convert scanned image files to editable Word documents. Scanned PDF files and text based PDF files are also handled by the application. The application can also help you scan pages, it has scanning features built into it. The application can turn multiple pages into one or more Word documents. The original layout of your PDF is preserved even after conversion into an editable document. The GUI is simple enough to be handles by even novices. The main GUI area is given over to creating this batch list. This list determines not only the items to be processed but the order in which that is done. The GUI has controls for not only add and delete files but also to change the order of the files.
You specify the document path and you are in business. Do plan for editing time though. No matter how accurate the conversion is, it depends on the font used, color/tint of the paper, any noised related to scanning or tilt etc. Even when the conversion is, say 90% accurate, a page containing 2500 characters will have 250 characters in error and for any real life document with hundreds of pages, the numbers can be high. To get a good feel of the behavior, it should be tested in your own work environment.
